Troubleshooting

If scans are not working as expected, use the checks below.

Extension is installed but no verdict appears

  • Confirm the extension is enabled in your browser.
  • Ensure your VirusTotal API key is present and saved.
  • Reload the page and test again.

API key errors

  • Recopy the key from your VirusTotal account.
  • Remove accidental spaces before or after the key.
  • Check whether your VirusTotal plan has reached quota.

Slow or inconsistent responses

  • Verify network stability.
  • Retry with a different webpage to rule out site-specific issues.
  • Wait briefly and retest if the API service is rate-limiting requests.
