Setup VirusTotal API Key
Generate and add your VirusTotal API key to Scanos.
Generate your API key
- Create or sign in to your VirusTotal account: virustotal.com.
- Open your account profile and navigate to the API key section.
- Copy your personal API key.
Add the key to Scanos
- Open the Scanos extension popup or options page.
- Paste your key into the API key field.
- Save changes and run a quick hover scan to validate setup.
Security guidance
- Treat your key like a password and never post it publicly.
- Rotate the key if you suspect it was exposed.
